In terms of shops, there are a handful of convenience stores nearby, as well as a branch of Morrisons in the Merrion Centre. The nearest post office is in Woodhouse, while banks here include Barclays and HSBC.

There is a health centre - Leeds Student Medical Practice - on Blenheim Walk, while the Leeds General Infirmary is just a short walk south and west of the two campuses. Buses are pretty frequent - the 1, 6 and 56 all stop outside both universities every 10 minutes or so between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday.

Most of the jobs here are provided by the two universities themselves, mainly in education, retail and administration. Other employers of note nearby include the NHS and Tesco, with a number of shops open to part-time workers. Both universities have their own careers services, listing vacancies for students.

Leeds City Centre

Joined at the hip to the university quarter, this is where it’s all happening in Leeds. Aside from being home to most of Leeds’ major shopping destinations and businesses, it’s also an ideal place to live if you fancy a quick walk to the office and like views of Leeds skyline.
